Summer and its multitude of neighbourhood festivals are swiftly disappearing into the sunset. Fortunately, the end of summer brings Barcelona’s biggest yearly festival, La Mercè.

The Festa Major de Gràcia simply celebrates the neighbourhood and everyone who lives there. The spirit of the festival is to get everyone together and rejoice in being a part of the community and its traditions. And it has to be said, they do it in style!

Go back another year more in Barcelona “Music als Parcs”, an event that offers 49 free concerts in the city parks.

Let’s face it, when you go on a city break, the sights you see by day are only one part of the whole experience. Enjoying the city when the sun goes down may well leave you with some of your best holiday memories.

Barcelona remains one of Europe’s most active capital city for the musical offer: after receiving the Primavera Sound and Sonar, returns this July the appointment Cruïlla Barcelona Festive 2013.

The 20th anniversary of Sonar – from June 13 to 15 – will be a total celebration, which will get some of the most important artists of electronic music in Barcelona.

At the end of May, Barcelona hosts one of the top festivals in Europe – Primavera Sound 2013. Back for its twelfth year, the festival continues to focus on independent music and is already gearing up to put a spring in Barcelona’s step once again.

La Mercè is the most important festival in Barcelona since 1871, when the council drew up a program of special events to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Mercy (Mare de Deu de la Merce Vendrell in Catalan), which takes place on September 24.
