The Grec Festival 2012

The Festival Grec in Barcelona is an international festival of dance, music and theater.
Throughout its history this festival, which this year reaches 36 editions, has become not only the main attraction of the summer in Barcelona, but also a reference to the European calendar of performing arts.

The festival takes its name from its headquarters, a theater (the Teatre Grec), built on the hill of Montjuïc for the Universal Exhibition of 1929. At first, this “Greek Theatre” was used only for the seat of the festival, but today, the Grec program embraces many other theaters, cultural facilities and public spaces throughout the city of Barcelona.

One of the new director’s intention is to transform the Festival Grec “a window on the world” and give equal importance to both local artists to international and participation of citizens, with a more popular, and everyone.
The festival, which runs 1-31 July, includes proposals that come from all over the world, including the company of Marie Chouinard, the Germans She She Pop, Icelanders Vesturport, and Zulu dance choreographer Robyn Orlin.
