Barcelona International Boat Show

Port Vell will host the next edition of the Barcelona International Boat Show, which this year will be from 26 to 30 September 2012. The new idea, developed by the organizers (Feria de Barcelona and the National Association of Boating Spain, Anen) intends to concentrate all the supply in one place to facilitate visits.

Besides enjoying the Barceloneta, where the Port Vell, visitors can also try out the boats. The 8-meter boats will be exhibited in a special area at the Moll de la Fusta, along with other water sports equipment.
Anticipating dates in late September the exhibition will also benefit the mild climate of Barcelona and more hours of daylight to attract a greater number of fans of the sea. Another advantage of the anticipated date is that within the international calendar, the Barcelona exhibition will be held between the two currently most important boat shows in Europe: the Festival de la Plaisance in Cannes and Genoa International Boat Show.

According to the CEO of ANEN, Alejandro Landaluce “in this time of economic crisis, we aim to change. Brands have understood and have opted for this model is the most attractive option because it combines in one place all our commercial offer, which has long been felt as a strategic need of the expo.”

The history
The Barcelona Boat Show was one of the first in Europe. The first edition of the Boat Show was held in 1963 at the fairgrounds in Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc within the popular Trade Fair (Trade Fair). Following the success of this first meeting, it was decided to make the show an annual event (with the exception of 1988, to be held in two editions). Over time, the passion for sailing has been increasing and the program has grown to become one of the main events for lovers of the sea in Spain. Since 1995, the Port Vell hosts the exhibition floating larger vessels, thus completing the offer of the fair.

In 2002 the location was changed by moving the exposure to the Gran Via and maintaining the floating exhibition in Port Vell, where there were many activities such as sailing, sea baptisms and more. From 2009 he was created a Village where they meet entrepreneurs, athletes and boaters. Last year we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the exhibition.
